REMARKABLE INCIDENT AT

PERNAU

LONDON, February 15

An exciting incident took place between the strikers and the military at the port of Pernau, on the Gulf of Riga.

A body numbering fully three thousand strikers met with a force of three hundred Russian infantry, who were guaxding a bridge over which they (the strikers) 'wished to pass.

Despite the show of armed resistance, however, they continued to advance.

The soldiers hastily presented their riSes and fired a volley, but immediately afterwards retired to tneir barracks. The crowd then gathered outside, and sang derisive songs.
