THE PREMIERS' CONFERENCE.
(Kcceived 10.35 a.m.)
HOBABT, thie day. The State Premiers' discussion on the proposed extension of the Braddon clause suggested that if the words relating to ten years as its life are deleted, this will leave the Federal Government free to abrogate the clause when they deem it expedient. The Premiers still object to the sinking fund, but are agreeable to any savings effected by the conversion paid into the sinking fund.
