The '"Star" has authority for sayiug that the Port Chalmers Dock Trust has successfully floated its £75,000 loan at 5 per cent., the entire loan being taken up by one large financial institution. DIVIDING THE ELECTORATES. WELLINGTON", this day. The North Island Representation Commissioners are sitting in Wellington for the purpose of dividing the existing city electorates of Auckland and Wellington each into single electorates, under the provisions of the Single Electorates Act, 1903 REPRESENTATION COMMISSION. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The South Island Representation Commission opened its sittings here this morning. All the Commissioners were present. Mr. T. S. Weston was elected chairman. The proceedings are not open to the press. The Commission is engaged fixing the boundaries of the electorates of Dunedin and Christchurch. FIRE. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Fire destroyed a painter's workshop at Linwood this morning, the property of Mr. Archbold. It was insured in the Liverpool and London and Globe Company—the building for £75 and the contents for £225. BANANAS CONDEMNED. DUNEDIN, this day. The Health Department inspector seized and condemned as unfit for human consumption 220 out of 1700 cases of bananas received ex Navjia* frcnn Fiji. ■.
