Thej p found Ross, who was lost, and subse d quenlly then found Coliinson's body p Witness was the first to find deceased's i- body on the morning of February 27th c When witness and McDonough reporter i, Collinson's death to Mr Bunny, the lat c ter asked how il happened, and Mc !- Donough eaid, "I've got my suspicions.' V- Mr Wilford: You then said, "If yoi: :- mean McKenzie I haven't seen him foi 0 months? ,, d Witness: ''"For some time." f Mr Wilford: Did McDonough then f say that he had scon MeKenzic the c morning before? / Witness: I did not hear him. Wit r ness said ho had seen accused in the i- gulley at the camp with a rifle, and his - impression was that it was a snider. •- Tha.t was in June, 1903. Patrick MeDonough deposed that ht (. saw the accused at Collinson's Camp or 1 the morning Collinson was murdered. t Ellis was carrying a rifle. The reason why he did not tell the jury at the o coroner's inquest that he had seen Ellis :- on the morning of the murder was bej cause he thought Ellis was still there s and might put a bullet through him, s Evidence was also given by men from .1 I whose camps things had been stolen t during the time the police were looking s for Ellis. These articles were found in q prisoner's possession, o Detective Broberg gave evidence ol the arrest, and this closed the caae foi •- the Crown. r. Counsel for aeensed said he did not [. intend to call evidence, but would ads dress the jury at length. The east c was adjourned until to-morrow.
