(Received 10.30 a.m.) PERTH, this day. 11l jfivin? evidence before Dr. Roth, the Commissioner appointed to inqxiire into the treatment of the aborigines, the mansiser of a local steamship company said he was satisfied that the natives never received fair trial, in many cases they were undefended even when a capital charge was preferred. Mr. Patterson, tin- paoler at Broome : stated that he received instruction from the Comptroller of Prisons to place all native prisoners in chains.
