COMPANIES' ACT AMENDMENT.

LONDON, February 9. The president of the Board of Trade (Mr. Gerald Balfour) has appointed a committee, consisting of Sir Robert T. Reid, JVI.P. <chairman), Sir W. H. Holland, M.P., and Mr. Hiekens (a member of the Stock Exchange), Mr. Warmington (the Chancery barrister), and other experts, to inquire into the amendments necessary in the Joint Stock Companies Acts. They are to give consideration to the growing practice of issuing companies without prospectus, also of registering outside of England companies operating in England and appealing to English investors. Several other points of company law are referred to the committee
