Uaited States Wins Law Case.
(Received 8.5G ajn.) LONDON, February 9. The Privy Council, in upholding the • 1 kites' appeal, has reversed the 1 ttX. Justice Caron, of the SuS Court Lower Canada, in the GayP !V and Greene case, concerning the cxc"toby American officials of a Mon£p_i warrant at Quebec. The case created a good deal of discus- • t in Canada, and the United S_. te a Government looked on it as a ease rf the Teatest importance, a.3 eoncern•a effective administration of the extradition treaty. The evidence showed that Gaynor and Greene were indicted for fraud in SouthGeorgia but moved their residence from New York to Quebec. The American Government applied to the Montreal Extradition Court for the extradition of the men arrested. After various efforts oTthe part of the United States, Mr. Jusiee Caron granted an issue of habeas corpus, and directed their release.
