BOARD OF EDUCATION.
I Continued from page 3.) City High School.—The sub-commit-tee on high schools was instructed to report on the proposal to establish a high school in Auckland city. Pukekohe West.—The tender of Mr Wilkinson (£327) for the removal of the Pukekohe West School to the new site was accepted. Appliances.—The secretary reported that no reply had been received from the Education Department to the application for funds to provide the appliances required under the new syllabus. Application had been made as far back as September. Mr Greenslade said that teachers in country districts were paying for the appliances out of their own pock° ets. The cost of supplying all the schools in the district would be at least £2000. Mr Parr said the inaction of the Education Department was in keeping with the usual lethargy shown by it. It was decided to communicate with the Department, pointing out the urgency of the matter, and asking for an immediate grant.
