CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE. Mr P. Crowe presided at a meetina of the City Schools Committee last night, Messrs A. H. ChappeU, A. Ro? ser. W. Jaffrey, A. Thorne, E. Sh'er<sm, ' H. F. Bomber, P. M. Mackay,.aS Reid. A Chapel - street Complaint Th. City Council engineer, who had invea tigated a complaint that night-soil carts were being kept in a y joining the Chapel-street school hai reported that the bunding was' only used as an ordinary stable and wm kept quite clean. The report,. wluca came, in the form of a communication from the Education Board, was recer?. cd. Appointments. —In consequence 0 f Miss Crisp, assistant teacher at Beres-ford-street school, leaving at the end of Feb., three names of possible successors were submitted by the Board of Education. The committee decided to recommend the appointment of Mjsg Mary E. Davidson. Upon the applicj. tion of the Nelson-street headmaster the appointment of Miss Mary E. Kelly as assistant mistress was made permanent. Technical Instruction. — Permission was granted for the erection of a tern, porary iron buildings 60 by 30 feet, in, a corner of Wellesley-street school playground, to be utilised in connection with the mechanical department of thfl technical school.
