ELECTRIC TRAM ACCIDENT.

WELLINGTON BOY SHOCKINGLY INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A lad named John Ward, aged nine years, son of F. Ward, hairdresser, of Tory-stneet, sustained dreadful injuries this afternoon by falling under an electric ear in Oriental Bay. It appears that the boy fell while running alongside the car, and one of his arms must have got under the car. He was then struck by the undergear. The car was pulled up short, and the unfortunate child extricated in an unconscious condition. It was then found that he had sustaindU a very had scalp wound, and a fractured skull. His upper jaw was broken, and his lower jaw apparently dislocated. His right arm was terribly mangled, the wrist and hand being almost severed, and hanging merely by a shred of flesh and sinews. The sufferer was removed to the hospital, where his right arm was amputated. Eye-witnesses attribute no blame to the car officials. WELLINGTON, this day. John Ward died in the hospital at 9.30 this morning. An inquest on the body is being held.
