STOCK AND PRODUCE. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that horses have been in steady demand, those of a good stamp being insufficient for the requirements. Fully on average number was entered for disposal by auctkm at the Durham Yards ou Friday. Competition was fairly keen. We quote: Heavy draughts, at from £26 to £40 5/; medium do., £19 to £32; light harness, £10 10/ to £21 5/; hacks, £S 10/ to £19. At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store cattle were yarded in larger numbers than usual. Dairy cows sold at from £4 5/ to £7 5/; empty cows, £2 8/ to £3 12/6; calves. £1 1/ to £2 3/. There were plenty of buyers and a large attendance of those interested at the wool sales to-day, at which 5113 bales were offered. One-third was passed at auction, but there were numerous private deals, vendors realising that they could not get more by holding. There was a drop of Id to 2d an round. The merino offered was not :i high class, and prices were lower by a half-penny. Half-bred was l_d down, the top price being lod. Super crossbred brought up to lOjd, as against l/0± at the January sate; strong do., lod, aa against l/oi. Good to medium merino brought lOd to 9_d ; inferior, 9d to Sd.
