A SUDDEN DEATH.
• : THE INQUEST. An inquest was held at the Empire Hotel this morning before Mr T. Gresham (City Coroner) toncbing the death of Mrs Margaret Parker, aged 54, who died suddenly at her residence in Nel-son-street the day before yesterday. .Sergeant Carroll watched the proceedings on behalf of the police. The evidence of Charles Parker, a house-painter, the husband of the deceased, was to the effect that his wife complained of a choking sensation early on the morning of the 6th. She got better, however, and would not have a doctor called in. She became unwell again about a quarter to five, and witness supported her to the bed, where she died in a few minutes. Dr. Hardie Neil said that when he arrived the deceased had been dead about an hour. The cause of death was heart disease and embolism, which would combine to produce the apoplectic symptoms that had been noticed. One of the neighbours, Mrs H. Parker, said she had spoken to the deceased and advised her to get a doctor, but she had feared that a medical man would order her into the Hospital. About a quarter past five on the evening of the 6th she was called in by Mr Parker. On going into the room witness found the deceased lying on the bed, unconscious. A verdict was returned in terms of the medical evidence.
