The harbourmaster of Sydney, Captain Bird, who was cleared of the charge of having obtained his position by bribery, but who was subsequently found by Royal Commission to have been guilty of reckless conduct, has resigned. SLOOP MUTTNE TO PAY OFF. SYDNEY, February 6The sloop Mutine, of the Austranan squadron, has sailed for England, where she will pay off. WELL-KNOWN MERCHANT > DROWNED. MELBOURNE. February 6. Mr. William McLean, a prominent business man of Melbourne, and for many years head of the well-known wholesale hardware firm of McLean Brothers and Rigg, which has branches in most of the States, has been found drowned at Brighton.
