(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) POTATO DISEASE SPREADING. WELLINGTON, this day. Inquiries made show that potato crops in almost every part of the Hutt Valley have been attacked by disease, and it is probable the Agricultural Department will at once quarantine the district. DIED ON THE ROAD. • OAMARU, this day. An old man named Archibald McTaggart. aged 70, was" found dead on the road near Papakaio to-day. He had evidently died from 'natural causes. HOSPITAL FOR CONSUMPTIVES IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, this day. Dr. Valentine, Assistant Chief Health Officer, waited on the Hospital Trustees this morning, and urged'the necessity for providing a hospital for consumptives in Wellington. He said . there were 150 known cases of consumption in Wellington at the present time, at least 50 of which were indigent cases, in several instances sharing rooms with other people. The Trustees decided to make aji appeal to tthe public- and to call a public meeting.
