WHANGAREI NEWS.

ACCIDENT TO A BOY.

(Ry Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.* WHANGAREI, this day. Tom Smith, nine years of age, son of Mr William Smith, a settler, was thrown from a horse when riding from a dance at Tangihua on Wednesday night and sustained fracture of the thigh. He is now under treatment in the Whangarei Hospital. It is a remarkable coincidence that the boy's father was the first patient with a fractured limb admitted to the hospital. The Rob Roy's annual excursion brought a large number of Waipu visitors to Whangarei this morning. They were welcomed at the station by Mr Mander, and returned at 3 p.m. aiter an enjoyable day.
