INTER-PROVINCIAL PIGEON MATCH,
We learn that an inter-provincial pigeon Shooting match has been arranged to come off on the 9fch of November next, between representative teams from Otago, Canterbury, and Auckland. Captain Wheeler of the s.s. Hawea has been busy in arranging preliminaries, and it is now settled that the match shall come off. While the worthy skipper is looking after the interests of Auckland in the transactions Mr. G A. Smith is acting for Otago and Mr. Dalgliesh for Canterbury. The match will be fired simultaneously, that is, each team will shoot on its own ground and the scores be communicated to one another by telegram. The affair is sure to create an immense amount of interest. It is difficult to say yet which team will enjoy the premiership in public favour prior to the contest—we shall know that better when the teams are chosen—-but we have little doubt Auckland will be well able to hold her own in the competition.
