Ehymes for the Times
The Times publishes the following lines :— How happy could I be with Pollen ? "Were 'tother grey charmer away. But since they are both so enthralling I am placed 'twixt two bundles of hay. Last year I was eager to polish All tne provinces off in a day, But now I must say to sbo'.ish In an unconstitutional way. Provincialism looked black as night, And Centralism bright as day ; But at present though black ia not white, It is rapidly changing to Grey. The vacancy by Mr Tolmie's Death. Mr Stout, M.P.C., is expected to be brought forward for the seat rendered vacant by Mr Tolmie's death. It is not thought he will be opposed. The Herald correspondent telegraphs: " The Government anticipates a majority of fifteen to twenty for the second reading; and many believe that after- the second reading the Government will not press the Abolition Bill further.
