The City of London fortnightly retorting, to-day, yielded 272 ozs. The Victory crushed 30 tons for 23 ozs 14 dwts. The Kuranui tribute crushed CO tons for. HA ozs. 4 dwts. melted. <The Manukau melted 367 ozs. 3 dwts.
Jbe Coliban —50 tons yielded 66 ozs. jneltca Rold. Xfee flueen of May (melted) yielded 225 OZB, 2 iJvvts. $be Pumping Association shaft is down % 560 feet in splendid country. -■The market is slack to-day. The only sale reported at noon was Golden Calf (double), Latest from T&ima.
A report frcm the mine-manager of the Tairua Co. contains intelligence of an important nature. It corroborates the statements of a correspondent regarding the rich prospects of the reef just opened from No. 2 shaft., It has been penetrated only a short distance at the time the report was written, and the prospects were brilliant. A contract was let yesterday by the Waitekauri Goldmining Company to Kelly and Adams, for cutting the timber necessary for a, forty head battery to be erected there, water-fall, water-wheel, and building tablep. The time allowed for completion is limited. As soon as a quantity of timber is available carpenters will start. No time will be lost, but on the contrary every diligence will be used in gettinglthe plant into working order.
