Among the passengers by tho Fernglen for London is Mrs McDonnell which has led to an impression that Colonel McDonnell is going home. This however is not the case. Colonel McDonnell is still under engagement with the General Government as Land Purchase Agent, and proceeds to Wellington Bhortiy in connection with his official duties. "An inquest of melancholy nature was held at Middlesborough recently. The deceased, John Watson, was employed at the Carlton. Ironworks. While standing near a cabin a ball of-red-hot molten slag was drawn past him by a locomotive. Suddenly the ball burst, spreading itaeif over Watson, who was .removed to the Cottage Hospital, but gradually «u_k and died.
