Two bodies have been picked up at Mokau, and buried—one an elderly man, short hair, and whiskers grey ; ho had on a fragment of a Crimean shirt and a black coat. The other was a young man, well made, rather over middle height ; hair and whiskers light brown or sandy ; tattooed ring of _ crosses on wrist ; cross on right hip ; ship in full, sail on left fore-arm and other tattoo marks—might have been a name; tattoo marks on back of both hands, tinguishable ; no clothing on bub the remains of a pair of woolen drawers. The bodies were buried. Several articles af clothing washed ashore are in possession of the Maoris.
