Great scandal is caused by a charge of corruphon made against the Minister of Lands by the ax-Premier, Mr Parkes
The steamship Macgregor left Ran Francisco for Auckland on the 19th instant. The San Francisco mails were delivered in Australia several days in advance of the Suez mail. The Easby sailed for Wellington at noon to-day. Madam Bistori commenced her impersonations last night as Medea ; the critics' announce ifas a brilliant success. Edward White has been remanded on a charge of attempting to bribe a member of Parliament. Letters received from the New Guinea expedition barque Chevert, dated Cape Somerset, North Australia, report all well. The Torres Straits mail steamer Sir George Bowen left Singapore for Australia on the 22nd inst.
