THE LATE CAPTAIN DOBLE.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sir, —The late Captain Doble was in my employ some years since as mate of the schooner Tyne, which vessel was wrecked on the coast of Tasmania with passengers from Dunedin during the rush ; and. through his bravery in climbing the cliffs (some fifty feet high) with a rope most of the passengers, numbering nearly fifty with the captain and crew, were saved, although three I think were lost with the vessel, which went to pieces in a short time. I enclose my mite for the widows and orphans. —H. Lipscombe, seedsman, Queen-street.
