This day. The manager of the Gem commenced yesterday to open the face near the south-east peg, close to the Prospectors' ground, while the whare is being constructed. The time has been chiefly occupied in prospecting from the spot where the Tairua Company crushed 1 cwt., at the rate of nine ounces to the ton. of a few days the manager expects to have the reef exposed, and should it realise the same tests as that at the boundary, then the property will rank second only to the Prospectors' Claim. Since my last visit to the Eldorado, little bas been done in developing the lode beyond driving a few more feet to break out stuii sufficient to form a good trial lot. The reef maintains its strength. No idea can be formed of its size, as it is not cut through. The prospects are as good as ever. r* The manager of the Golden Arrow cleared away a large face, and commenced to drive into the spur. Twenty feet, he expects to intersect the Eldorado reef, out cropping on the surface. From the outcrop, splendid prospects are washed. ; There is no change in the Prospectors Claim. Everything was satisfactory yesterday afternoon. Several dishes were tried from No. 2 drive, and the result was magnifiAcouple of leases were pegged out yesterday between the Effort and the Rule Britannia leases.
