In the House to-day, Mr O'Neill's notices of motion was given as notified. Mr Steward gave notice for Tuesday to ask leave to introduce a Bill to legalise marriage with deceased wife's sister. (Great laughter.) Sir George Grey presented a petition from early settlers praying for an investigation of tbe case, and such relief as the House deemed right. The petition was read. Mr Karatana presented a petition from certain natives of Hawke's Bay, praying the House to protect their interests in the Patutahi block. Major Atkinson laid on the table a statement of receipts by the province or Welling-' ton from the Manawatu district.
