Mr Larnach stopped his action against the Waste Lands Board, believing its members have acted rightly in the matter of the Herriot Hundred.
Resignation of Fire Brigade. On the resignation of the Fire Brigade being read at the meeting of the City Council last night, the Council resolved. to ask the Brigade to re-consider its decision. The Councillors spoke in high terms of the members of the Brigade. Dr Willis is appointed City Health Officer. Salmon Ova. At the meeting of the Acclimatisation Society yesterday it was reported that of the Timaru's salmon ova shipped only fourteen charr are now alive. These represent a cost of £200. The charr are about two inches long. The November Race Meeting. The Dunedin Jockey Club will give two days' racing at the November meeting this year. The stakes amount to £400. The prizes for the annual meeting in March next amount to £1650, including the Dunedin Cup added money, which is increased to £400.
The Quarantined Ship. The Aldegrove will be admitted to pratique immediately. The single people will be released from quarantine on Saturday.
