The Opposition Tactics.
The intention of the Opposition is to wait for Messrs Macandrew and Reid, who will not be up before Friday. Messrs Wood and Sheehan are also absent, but there seems little doubt that the Government have an immense following on this question. The Opposition appear dispirited, and have no matured policy yet to present. Mr Stafford's declaration of allegiance has had a great effect. It is the force of the question, not the inherent strength or respect for them, that gives the present strength to the position of the Ministry. Unmistakeably, the House has taken the bit in its mouth, and the Ministry seem to guide while only sitting stupidly and smilingly on the coachbox. -».«« The Representation Bill. I have beard on fair anthority that the representation measure provides five additional members, and aims at giving as near as possible one to each four thousand of population. I cannot vouch for the correctness of this.
