GRAHAMSTOWN.
(From our own Correspondent.) This day. Interesting Christening. The Blight Smile battery was started today in *ne presence of about 1000 people. The Mayor presided, and Mrs Ken nan turned on steam and broke a bottle of champagne en the fly-wheel, christening it the Bright Smile Battery. Mr Kowe proposed success to the Bright Smile, and Mr Kennan responded. The proceedings were quite enthusiastic. A champsgne lunch was provided on the occasion. 'J he battery and engina are now working splendidly, and as smoothly as if the old machine instead of the new was working for some time. Singular Case-
At the Police Court to-day Matthew Kitt w ho yesterday was brought up on a charge of lunacy and discharged on the ceitificate of a doctor was charged with threatening Hugh Mcllhone with an axe. The suit was a friendly one to have Kitt restrained. He was bound over to keep the peace, and security will be forthcoming when it is considered safe to liberate him.
