LAUNCH OF A SCHOONER.
Messes. Sims and Bkowv, who only a few days ago sent off the stocks Captain Casey s new steamer the Minnie Casey launched another fine boat this morning the Elsinore a fore and aft schooner of 35 tons register for Messrs. Ford & Hulme, Bay of Islands. The launch to day was from the firm's yard in Custom House street, and took place at high water about half past nine o'clock. The Elsinore is perhaps the most sightly and well-finished craft Messrs. Mms and Brown have ever put together. Her lines are very taking to the eye, though she has the fulness of curve necessary for a good carrier; she has an entrance quite sharp enough for sailing well, while her clearness of delivery is very noticeable. She would at first sight appear to have almost too fine a run, but the detrimental effect of this will only be to confine her cabin accomodation, while it should give her more than average speed. The dimensions of the E'sinore are as follows : -Length, 52 ft. ; beam, 16 ft. 6 in ; depth of hold 6 ft. 6 in. She was christened by Mrs. Sims. The launch wa3 a complete success and the vessel is now ljing to the westward of the Gore street jetty, where she will immediately be fitted for sea by Mr. Garnaut, who supplies the rigging and sails. Captain Dam, late of the cutter Fawn, takes command. We understand taat the owners are much pleased with the appearance of their new craft.
