DANGEIIOUS ACCIDENT. RUSSELL (From our Own Correspondent.) This day. Arrivals : Tona, from Northern ports ; Fairy, Onward, barque Albion, from Auckland. Departures : Fawn, with a csrgo of gum ; lona, for Auckland, with the following passengers : Hears, Harkiss, Leonard, F. Stephcnson, H. O. Browne, G. Simons, H. Eeynold, JR.. Davis. The schooners Estelle and Ebcnezer are loading with tiaiber at Whangoioa. The Derwent has not arrived at Mongonui yet. The winds for la&t week were varying from S. to W.S.W., the weather fine. There was a narrow escape from drowning last night. A man named Miller, who was going on board the lona, lyit>K at Macfarlane's wharf, which is in a very dilapidated state, tripped himself and fell heavily into the water. Had ifc not been for the prompt assistance rendered by a young man named George Cook, the unfortunate man would certainly have bten drowned.
