THEATRICAL ARRIVALS BY THE CITY OF MELBOURNE.
Among the passengers by the City of Melbourne is Mr. Edward Ellis, for the past two years the dramatic and musical editor of the Han Pranciseo Chronicle, whose criticisms and wide knowledge of theatrical affaira have made that journal the leading authority upon dramatic matters. Mr. Ellis is now on a tour as advance agent for the famous tragedienne, Madame Fannie Jananschek, who will arrive in the Macgiegor. Madame Jananachek is engaged to appear in Sydney and Melbourne, and she will afterwards play in Kew and make the complete rouud of the British colonies. Tier fame was first won in Germany, but forffthe last four years she hag been the acknowledged head of the American stage.—The City of Melbourne is crammed with artistic talent.^Foremost comes Madame Ristori, the great Italian acress, witht her full troupe of thirty performers, and fifty tons of scenery, cobHuiv--, and properties. Next the beautiful Hungarian soprana Mdl'.e. lima di Marsha, known as '-the Hungarian Nightingale," with hor concert-party of live, whom Signor D. do Vivo accompanies as manager, aad finally Miss Emelie Melville Derby, a prominent Son Francisco ariiafe, who jjots under et> gagernent to Mr. Lyater, of the Theatie Koyal, Melbourne, to piodnce Lee q"a opera of " Girofle Girorl.;." &II Va.au artistes will in due time appv&r in Auoki&ud.
