PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.

Dion Botjcicatjxt'splay of "Hunted Down" was selected for representation by the Howard-Collier Company last night. The piece it will be recollected is that selected by Miss May Howard for her benefit night. The part of the heroine Mary Leigh, was aßßumedby that lady last evening, with the same finished skill as on the former occasion. There was a polished roundness about the delineation which told how completely the spirit of the character was entered into by the fair artiste whom we shall go soon lose. The plaudits Miss May Howard received for her splendid, passionate declamation, must have convinced her that She has won the admiration of the Auckland play-going public. Mr G. W. Collier as John Leigh, was successful in winning frequent applause. His conception of the character is finely appropriate, and his evolution of it masterly. Mr Aveling displayed great evenness in the part of Sir Arthur Leigh, and Mr Holloway as Rawdon Scudmore, did well. Mrs Jones was successful in impersonating Mrs. Bolton Jones, and Miss Maggie Knight represented the pretty little waiting maid very happily. The child (Millie Collier) gave evidence of very precious talent as Willie Leigh. Altogether, the acting and mounting of the piece was highly satisfactory, and the audience were delighted. The after piece—" The Widow's Victim' — made a capital finish of the evening's entertainment. '■ Arrah-Na-Pogue " is set down as the piece for this evening, "by special request." '
