Minister of Education. A C. Knight, Isq, formerly member of tbe Board of Education, is gazetted as Minister of Education. * The Board of Governors of tbe Canterbury College waited on the Government yesterday respecting the erection of additions to the Museum, which the Government, acting on the advice of the new Provincial Solicitor, entered to allow the contractors ta proceed with the additions, which will cost £14,000. Supreme Court. The Criminal Sessions, of the Supreme Court will open on Monday next. The following is the calender :— Chas. James, late treasurer to Oddfellows, larceny as a bailee; J. McKinlay, .manslaughter ; John Aldridge, Minnie Thompson, A. Edwards, and Margaret Clark, stealing from tbe person ; Patrick Broderick, horse stealing ; E. i Pavitt, late Church, steward, embezzlement, six charges ; lidward Mainwaring Johnstone, estate agent, breach of Land Transfer Act, 1870; W. H. Hudson, larceny ; John Armfield, breach of Pawnbrokers' Act, two cases.
