POLICE COURT.—THIS DAY

(Before C. O'JSeilTand C. N. Marshall, Esqs., Justices.) VOTARIES OF BACCHUS. Jane Whitier and John Tollison, for being drunk, were fined 5s and costs. Catherine Andrews and David Conolly, who had in addition to being tight forgotten the sanctity of the Sabbath, were fined 10a and costs. Alexander Richie, who had been admitted to bail, did not appear, and he ia not likely to see his bail money again. THE MANN OF VIOLENCE. Hezekiah Mann, who was " up" a few days ago and bound for assaulting his wife, Elizabeth Mann, was again brought up charged with using threatening and abusive language to his partner in life. He pleaded, not guilty. Mrs. Mann deposed that on Friday-night her husband and she had some words. It was his fault. He went on frightful, and used the most filthy expressions. He also threatened to have her life, and seized her by the throat and treated her abominably. He said he wouldn't lest till he had done for her. He should be happy if he had to swing for her. She believed her life to be in danger. The Bench ordered the ruffian to enter into a bond of £50, and^to find two securities of £25 each for hi 3 good behaviour for the next six months. THE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. John Hunter, charged with this offence, was again remanded till Tuesday. A JUVENILE OFFENDER. John Mulhern, a little bit of a boy only eight years old, was brought up under the " Neglected and Criminal Children's Act," charged with absconding from the Industrial Home. Mr Stickl'ey, the Master of the Institution,, gave evidence to shew that the little fellow had run away three times during the last three weeks. On the first two occasions he had gone to the hospital to see his father, and had returned of his own free will. On Wednesday last he ran away and did not come back. He was found by the police with his sister, who was a servant in the Clanricarde Hotel. The Bench ordered the lad to be taken back to the institution and privately whipped. This was all the business.
