TAIRUA.
The reporter o.f the Advertiser writes :— Prospecting in the Tairua Company's shaft was continued yesterday, and if anything, the stone sent to the surface was superior to any yet sent out. Several large specimens therefrom were perfect gems, unique in beauty with pieces of rough coarse gold, and the remainder thickly impregnated with line goldspecimens, the like of which are rarely seen ac the Thames, not only in richness but in the peculiarity of stone, the beat of the stone is on the west of the shaft in a leader about 12 inches wide. The reef is over 4 feet.
The Independent or Bergens has started, and expects to have 500 feet of the reef if it keeps its course. .
Gold is reported to have been found on the Ajax claim, and shares are being steadily bought up.
