LATE AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING.
On "Wednesday, the 9th instant, the steamer City of Bobart drifted on the rocks in Newcastle haroonr. and. notwithstanding every effort was made to get her off, it was impossible to move her without lightering a portion of her cargo After being stuck about 24 hours, the steamer was sufficiently lightened to float. Little damage was sus sained owing to the day being calm.
the ship Gareloch, vbich has just left Newcastle, bas on board the buat in which the saved portion or the crew of the La Plata made their escape.
An enquiry into the wreck of the P. (J.n. was commenced at Newcastle on the 11th instant, aud was adjourned till the next day. The wreck was sold for £5.
* The s s Hero arrived at Sydney on the 9th inst The hrig Drover, which left the Thames on the 30th ult, arrived at Newcastle on the 10th inst.
The barque Elm Grove was loading at Newcastle when the ulimpseleft.
