Mklbobne.—The Melbourne Argus, of June 8, says :— " Maize is firmer, owing to the small quantities coming forward, as well as the fear that damage will be caused by the flood, and the reports of bad weather experienced in the promising districts. Sales h*ve been making in consequence at 5s 2d to 5s Kid. In sugars an improving demand is reported for Mauritius torts. Sales of white are reported at £34 lus, and about 6<iO bags of brewing sorts have been placed at £32 to £3i We observe that some 6080, bags Java ; and Mauritius will be offered publicly to-morrow afternoon. Teas are without animation. The new Javas will be offered to-morrow. Sales of .soda crystals at £10 15s- Kerosene oil is stiil attracting attention. Childrey's tabaccos are now coming into very considerable notice, and at the public sale this forenoon the whole of what wes offered—l 24 packages—was readily cleared off at very satisfactory prices, ranging from 100 upwards. Hennessy'stease brandy is saleable on the spot at 33s 9d. TraTO sale of Hennessy's pale in bulk at 8s 4Jd also reach us." A 'later telegram sayß:—" Sales of YaTravilie sugar show a considerable improvement; whites ranging trom £30 to jC3S 10s. ' In teas, there has been an inquiry for the new. season lot. About half the Brisbane shipments found buyers. Breadstuff^ are dull." Symct.-fcydney papers of the 12th quote maize at 3s lOd to 4S ; flour, £10 to £12. M*.traiTin«.—uiauritius dates to the 30th hive been received. The St Marc bailed for Melbourne on the 12th, and the Harriet Nicholson for Adelaide. The Acacia loading for Adelaide for orders. Three hundred and fifty tons were loading for Sydney. The market was firm with an inqviry for Bombay.
