The Government has sent a telegram to England closing the contract for the New Zealaud cable.
Wearn's liabilities' are £75,000; C. J. Hoyt failed for £IG,OOO ; Kurnack, merchant, £17,000 ; Church and Hills, wine and spirit merchants, £20,000, Failures have paralysed the markets.
Pompei, of the Opera Company, has filed liis schedule ; liabilities, £f)00.
The baique G-lened, from Rockampton to Sydney, passed a barque on Bunker's reef. The masts all gone.
?£The Commissioners of Lands in Fiji have invited holders of land and others having interest in land to forward particulars in order l;o test the validity, or otherwise, of the titles.
