The Court opened at 11 o'clock,
THE LETHEAN" DRAUGHT,
William Gandry, alias the " Son of Thunder," was found in a state of drunkenness in Queen-street last night by Constable Axam, who lent him his arm. He was fined 10s.
William Burton, alias " Billy Button," was charged with the same offence, he having drank the lethean draught, and was fined ss.
Edwin Hammond, also, figured on the drunkards' list and forfeited his bail.
naomi's cctrse
Naomi Boatwright and Mary Ann Ingram were charged with using .terrible language last night in Nelson-street, and the curse of Naomi was heard by Constable Graham on the 21st.
The women, somewhat advanced in years, pleaded not guilty. Constable Graham deposed that he was on his rounds, and when within three hundred yards of the prisoners' house, he head their language, which was of a most awful description. The women lived in one house, and were swearing at each other like a pair of cats.
The women said it was alia mistake ; it was the men that were swearing.
Mr Broham said that the house was one of disrepute, and prisoners' characters were not of the most refulgent description. The woman Boatwright was about to address the Cpurt on her passable character, and the respectability of her house. The Court was of opinion that the offence which shocked the ears of Constable Graham had been committed, and fined the woman 40s each, or one month's imprisonment;. THINGS IN GENERAL Thomas Stewart was summoned for leaving his horse unattended, and his wheel unchained, in Victoria-street on the 15th instant, and was fined 5s and costs. Stanley Augustus Tait left his employer's cart unattended in Hobson-street on the 14th instant, and was fined 5s and costs. John Abbott, for allowing his horse be at large in Nelson-street on the 15th insfe., was fined 5s and costs. George Shepperdson was charged with trotting his horses round Wyndham-street corner faster than allowed by law, and fined 5s and costs.
John Davis was charged with committing a breach of No. 7 by-law, by depasturing his ueveix cows in * rustic spot near Bores* ford-streot Hall.
Mr Davis said it would not have happened but one of his cows was lame and could not get along. Mr Broham said defendant had frequently been convicted before for several offences.
The Court fined defendant 40s and costs,
Orlando Henry was charged with riding too fast round Queen-street corner on the 16th instant, and was fined 53 and costs. This was all the business.
