A meeting of the representatives of the Companies interested in Wai-Karaka drainage, was held at the Governor Brown Hotel to-day. Captain Bichards presided After a long discussion the scheme proposed by Mr Warwick W.eston was agreed to, to commence from the Ist June, the old rate being payable up till that date. Ohinemuri Bungling. The bungling at Ohinemuri is likely to invole the Government in law suits. Storekeepers are going to sne for orders given by Mr Mackay. ; A lease of thirty acres granted atjTaiua, named Puketui, is likely to be re-entered by the Government, for non-working men tri d to jump the ground, but the Government found they had to proceed by lodging a plaint in the Warden's Court. The "Advertiser" Oracular.
The "Advertiser" says the statement tha* the Kingites are willing to cede their land is simple nonsense.
