ROWING MATCH.

A rowing-match, in watermen's boats, came off today in the harbour, between Geo. H. Clark, well known here as the owner of the cutters Heather Bell and Matakana, and Geo. Hill, a bushman from Waiheke. The match was made only last night, and was for £5 aside. The distance was one mile : half a mile out and back—the start being from the end of the wharf down the harbour. The men started at noon on a very bad tide, it being nearly low water at the time. * The race was won by Hill. Clarke gave up after roundiDg cutter, and went in to. Judge's Bay. There was a strong west wind blowing from the west.
