(Per Press Telegram Agency.) This day. Re-election of Mr Ormond. The Provincial Council has opened. Mr Ormond was re-elected Superintendent unopposed ; Mr .Adeane, Speaker; and Mr Fannin, clerk. The Superintendent thanked the Council for his re-election, and accepted it on the understanding that he should be at liberty to resign before the expiration of toe time for which the Council was elected; He said the receipts of the Pakipaki railway per month are larger than those of any other line in the North Island. 2457 immigrants had been introduced into the province during the last twelve moths. The ordinary revenua exceeded the estimate, but the territorial had fallen off. After providingfor all expenses there will be a balance in hand of £13 000. The abolition of the provinces throughout the colony would lead toj a more efficient and economical admmistra-: tion of local affairs. .„,„,. .
