POLICE COURT.-This Day.

EFFECTS OF INTEMPERANCE. Alexander Lynch was brought into Court by force, charged with using obscene language last night in Queen-street. The prisoner wa3 suffering from delirium tremeiis, and was in a frantic state of excitemeut, held by two policemen. The prisoner had been drinking heavily, and was remanded for a week. His Worship recommended that prisoner should be sent to the Hospital, as it would be uneafe to keep him in the lock-up, :,Richard Adair, a temporary lunatic from the same cause, was also remanded for a week. DISOBEDIENCE. John Rogers, a seaman, was charged with a breach of the Merchant Shipping Act bydisobeying lawful commands on board the schooner Estelle, on the 11th inst. Thomas Edward Marsh, master, deposed that prisoner was steward of the schoouer, but had left his articles with a Mr. Houghton, of Danedin. His Worship told him that it was impossible for the Court to proceed in the matter without the articles. Prisoner said he was not guilty. Mr Broham said ifwa3 a bad case. The Court was surprised that the captain should be so simple as to be without his articles, and wondered how he would get to sea without them. The man was finally ordered on board the schooner, This was all the business.
