RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, HAMILTON.
The Hamilton R. M. Court, which was adjourned from Tuesday (Mr. Searaticke being actually turned out of his Court-house by Major Mair) was held on Thursday. Mr. Scarancke is not to blame, he only did the best he could. He tries very hard to oblige all parties. ANDREWS V. CLEARY. ! Claim, £5 16s, . Mr. Madden for plaintiff; Mr. Whitaker for defendant. The claim was for the hire of a horse, dray, and harness. The evidence was very conflicting and unsatisfactory, and judgment was given for £1 13s. 6d., and costs, £1 4a. CLEVRY V. MTJRRBY. Mr Whitaker for the plaintiff. *' Mr Hay for the defendant. This was an action for the sum of £15155, for riding a horse so hard that it died, also value of bridle. Witnesses were called to prove the low and feeble condition of the horse. Nonsuited. Costs, £7 Bs. George Jones, jun-, in trouble AgainI. R. VIALOU V. GEO. JONES, JUN. This was an action by plaintiff for work and labour done when the.paper was removed to Hamilton in January last. A miserable attempt was made by defendant (formerly of the Waikato Times, but now occupying a position on J. S. Macfarlane's paper somewhere in Auckland) to set up a defence on the ground of exorbitant charges, but both the witnesses called for the defence, experienced men, valued the work at higher prices than plaintiff had charged, excepting one item, which was a matter of opinion. Plaintiff has waited three months, and never got a penny, and now had to go to Court.
Judgment for plaintiff, £16 8s 2d (full amount) and costs.
Mr WJiitaker appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Hay for the defence.
