THE ALLEGED HOUSE-STEALING AT ONEHUNGA.
The proceedings in the Onehunga Court yesterday before R. C. Barstow, Esq., R.M , resulted in the committal of James Nixon to take his trial at the next criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, on the charge of horse-stealing. In addition to the witnesses mentioned in our last issue, Messrs J. W. Waller, Clarke, and Smith, were examined j the cheque for £90, claimed to have been paid by Mr. Waller for the horses Was traced, and the prisoner's receipt produced.^ The payment of wages to the accused while in Mr. Waller's employ and subsequently by the trustees in the estate was also proved. The prisoner reserved his defence.
