me J.okomanro and Lawrence Railway is progressing much faster than any line in the colony. There are 400 men employed, half of them being Chinamen, at Gs per clay. _M r Vogel arrived from Lyttelton yesterday in the Wellington. The Association rifle matches are postponed tor a week.
A deputation from the Sugar Company waited upon the Superintendent on Saturday to ask him to place a bonus on the estimates for the manufacture of sugar. The Superintendent promised to consult the Ex ecutive on the matter.
