CRICKET MATCH AT ELLERSLIE.
A NUMBER of the Auckland Cricket Club had selected a team consisting of Messrs Abraham, Bennett, Coates, Masefield, Wynyard, Keilson, Mowbray. Blunden. Bell, Osborne, Browning, Ward, Ruddock, and Newbury, to play an eleven of H.M. Basilisk at Ellerslie to-day. The weather promised a splendid match. The Star pigeons were sent to the ground, and one returned at three o'clock with the following PIGEON DISPATCH. The Basilisk men had previously arranged for a picnic. This caused some disappointment, but it was agreed that the match should ho played next Saturday. A game has been formed betwoen the cricketers present. Married v. Single, being members of the Auckland Cricket Club. [The match is now proceeding.] 4 p.m. The single men are all out for a score of forty runs. The married are now in. Bennett commenced with a splendid hit for six.
