LONDON.

November 12,

A financial crisis is imminent. A panic is expected on exchange, and there is great alarm in all classes. The Bank of England discount is 9 per cent, and it is expected to be increased to 10 within a day or two. A large amount of specie is being brought into the market to tide over the rush. The cause is alleged to be the failure of Jay Cook and Company, of New York, a short time since, and general disturbance in the money market.

November 13. Further reinforcements are proceeding to Ashantee.
