Numerous railway accidents of a serious character have occurred on several lines.
At the Lord Mayor's banquet, last night, the Hon. W. Gladstone alluded to tho Ashantee difficulty, and the desirability of avoiding relations entailing such consequences as might ensue to Great Britain. The friendly chiefs, he, said, were supporting Major-General Wojsley against the Ashantees.
