IMPROVEMENT COMMISSIONERS.
A meeting of the Improvement Commission was held this afternoon in the offices, Barrack green. His Worship the Mayor in the chair. The chief business of the meeting was to instruct the Secretary to reply to a variety of letters from persons making different requests; to concede a piece of ground to the Auckland cricketers for their temporary use, and in passing a resolution to the effect that a sub-committee be appointed for the purpose of seeing Messrs. Winks and Hall and Mr. H. Keesing at an early date, for the purpose of arranging with those gentlemen about the Shortland-street property • also that a letter be sent to the Insurance companies requesting them to replace the fire-bell in Bowenstreet with an ornamental frame.
Last evening one of the Sir 'Grey's Cadets (master IHarry Pearse) left for the Kawau to.interview Sir GeorgejGrey relative to their Christmas excursion to his beautiful marine residence, so ploasurably anticipated by this young anel gallant corps,
