THE AUCKLAND CRICKETERS IN
THE SOUTH

I CHRISTOHUItCH. This day, 1 p.m. There is a splendid change in the weather. Tho day is clear, with gentle breezes. South plays instead of Moore, for Canterbury, and Dixon and King do not play on on our sido. The ground is in fine order. Canterbury won the toss, and sent Auckland to the wickets.
Play began at a quarter to twelve with Mumford and Dufaur batting to Fuller and Dickenson's bowling. There wero few spectators? at the start. The Governor is expected on tho ground at three o'clock.
At one o'clock three wickets were down for seventeen runs. 2.30 p.m. All the Auckland men are out for a score of ninety. The team batted well all round. Alpe scored 17; Robinson, 14; Cotton not out, 14 • Swete, 10 ; Buckland, 10. Tho fielding of tho Canterbury men was very line. Tho attendance is more numerous.
